Monday September 24, 2018 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM

The 31st Annual General Meeting for 2017-2018 will take place on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Wellington County Museum and Archives in Fergus from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Board members and staff invite you to celebrate the important work and accomplishments of FCSSGW in 2017-18.

We promised you a ‘marble’ous good time, and now we can finally rollout all of the exciting details!

Frank Austin will join us to share his insights in the keynote address, “Have you lost your marbles?” Frank is a stroke survivor, author and founder of The Expressive Café, a group he started to help those with aphasia improve their communications skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Frank knows that aphasia is an ongoing and likely lifelong by-product of his stroke that he survived 10 years ago. He describes the struggle with aphasia perfectly when he says, “My favourite colour in the alphabet is nine.” His determination to improve his communications skills led to his book When the Milk Sours that he wrote and self-published in 2016.

In his keynote address, Frank will use his out of the box approach to teach audience members to “take advantage of every opportunity to practice your communications skills.” Through his volunteer work and patience, Frank has helped many people find the right words.

Following Frank’s speech, we hope you will take your marbles home and practice what you learned. As well, there will be light refreshments to carry you through the rest of the evening. We look forward to seeing you in Fergus! Email info@familyserviceguelph.on.ca to register.
